When I first started writing professionally back in 2000, I would have never guessed that I’d be sitting here having completed as many books as I have, let alone one. Working on them has led to some incredibly challenging yet fabulously rewarding experiences. Check out some of my featured titles below.
LAST LETTER HOME
"Last Letter Home - War, Love and Remembrance" tells the stories of normal people who walked away from their daily lives to put themselves in harm's way in the name of service, honor and country. You’ll read about a small piece of Civil War history you probably never even heard before, a teenager who was too young to serve in 1916, so he lied about his age and enlisted anyway as a doughboy in the trenches of France.
You’ll encounter men who landed on the beaches of Normandy during World War II and aviators who flew missions over Vietnam. You'll meet a Jewish girl who sneaked into Nazi Germany as a spy, and a man who endured radiation poisoning and would gladly do it again. You’ll also read the stories behind two of the most iconic photos in American history: You’ll meet the woman whose kiss turned into one of the most famous images of World War II. And you’ll encounter a man who swears he helped raise the flag on Iwo Jima, if only anybody would believe him. These stories are heartbreaking, patriotic and inspiring. And each one of them is true.
FROM SCAMP TO CHAMP
Meet Tola, a rambunctious puppy filled with mischief. But with some loving guidance, she'll soon begin training to become the eyes for a blind person. This true story follows Tola's journey from gangly pup to proud assistant dog.
From there, you'll read about an officer and his police dog, a fish-and-game warden whose job it is to protect wild animals, a daring rescue of a seal trapped in a fishing net, a pet who helps a gravely ill girl reconnect with the world, and a family who thought they lost a beloved companion during Hurricane Katrina.
Along with those inspiring stories, you'll meet a five legged cat, a duck that lives in a bathtub and a man who surrounds himself with hundreds of snakes.
"From Scamp to Champ" contains almost 20 animal stories ranging from the warmhearted to the whimsical.
